By the end of February, Boston had already
received 532 pothole complaints.
So, how can we prevent damage to our cars and
prepare to fight the battle against potholes?
Preventing pothole damage
As is the case with all issues involving
insurance, prevention is the least expensive way to
avoid problems. There’s a good deal you can do to

First, make sure your tires are always properly
inflated to the right pressure for the season. As we
move into the warmer months, check the owner’s
manual for your car to confirm that you are
maintaining correct tire pressure.
Second, ensure that your tires have adequate
tread. Not only does the correct amount of tread help
prevent hydroplaning in summer storms, but the
combination of proper tread and inflation also helps
ensure that your tires will safely and quickly roll
over road hazards.
Third, have your mechanic check your shocks
and struts. While your tires are the primary contact
with rough terrain, your car’s suspension needs to be
able to spring and flex, too.
