One great way to fund your summer fun is to cut
expenses on everyday purchases. This is easy for
MTA members because Access allows you to save
on clothing, groceries, auto services and more.
Whether or not you’ve used your savings benefits
in the past, you’re already a member. It’s simple to
join and to return again and again:
1. Go to mtabenefits.com and click the Access link.
2. Discover discounts in your ZIP Code.
3. Follow each merchant’s instructions to print a
coupon, save online or use a redemption code.
Fun at home
Once you have a stash of savings set aside,
the next step is to stretch it as far as you can.
Access is the nation’s largest provider of deals
at local businesses. There are hundreds of dining
and recreation locations in Massachusetts, so
even if you never leave your town or city limits,
you can still save on outdoor adventures,
museums, bowling, concerts and more. And
what excursion is complete without a stop at
your favorite restaurant?
Fun on the road
The MyDeals mobile app
makes it easy to save
anywhere in the nation
by automatically bringing
up the deals nearest you.
You can even track your savings. If you’ve never
used the app before, these easy instructions will
get you started:
1. Download the MyDeals app through Google
Play or i Tunes.
2. Log in using your MTA membership number.
3. Allow the app to use your phone’s GPS or
search by location.

If you would rather pay the MTA member price,
you’ll want to get MTAB’s partner, Optical
Academy, to bring its mobile optical shop to your
local. Members who have had the opportunity to
purchase glasses through Optical Academy are
amazed at the low prices they qualify for just by
being MTA members. The figures above are the
minimum savings available; members have saved
anywhere from $300 to $1,000 with this program.
Jillian Annessi, a member of the Dennis-Yarmouth
Regional Secretary and Aides Association, said at
a recent event held in her local, “I have insurance
through the state, and contacts and glasses are
much more expensive. I can’t believe these prices.
My mother came with me and is going to buy
glasses herself.” Local association President Judy
Provencher organized the mobile shop event for
her members and had only positive things to say
about the experience.
“The Optical Academy, in a word, was wonderful! It
was easy to book and they provided informational
posters for our schools and handouts for our
members. Customer service was great! They
came to us stocked with so many frames it was
hard to choose. Bringing my son for an exam —
and ultimately a pair of glasses — was a joy!
Thank you to MTA Benefits for providing this
service to us.”
In order to have the mobile shop visit a local
association, 50 members must be preregistered
for an eye exam at the event.
On-site events can be held during the day, after
school or on weekends, and family members are
invited. Don’t order another pair of glasses before
checking out the prices at Optical Academy.

Disability open enrollment Deadline is May 15
Time is growing short for eligible
members to enroll in the MTA disability
plan. It’s not too late for presidents to
schedule their districts’ on-site meetings.
Hundreds of members have met with
enrollment counselors to learn more about
the need for disability insurance. This is
your last chance in 2015 to enroll, so don’t
delay. To schedule an on-site meeting, contact
